POOL AND SPA PUMP REPAIRS
Our Pool Pump “Wet testing” facility in our East Tamaki Workshop – we try and simulate site conditions

COMMON POOL PUMP PROBLEMS

MECHANICAL SEAL FAILURE
Our most common problem that we have to deal with – corrosion due to a leaking mechanical seal for an extended period of time

USUAL REPLACEMENTS
Motor run Capacitor, motor Bearings and mechanical seal – wear and tear items

MOTOR BEARINGS
End result of a mechanical seal leaking for an extended period and water getting into the motor front end bearing – this is avoidable

MOTOR WINDINGS – STATOR EXPOSED
Pump motor windings tested and inspected

BURN’T OUT MOTOR CAPACITOR
A very common failure, a wear and tear item and can result in a fire

MECHANICAL SEALS
Motor shaft seals. Numerous sizes – not 1 size fits all.
A Money saving Tip
If your Swimming pool or Spa pool pump is in need of repairs or servicing, disconnect the unit and if possible deliver this to our workshop in East Tamaki, Auckland, or courier it to us. Please ensure that you bring all the pump’s components with you, we have received pumps without lids etc. We need to inspect and test everything. Delivering the pump to us will save you charges for our travel and on-site labour. If you are not able to do this then please fill in the form on our “Contact us” page and we will confirm a site visit to disconnect and uplift.

This varies from brand to brand. You should get in excess of 5 years of trouble free operation if you carry out a little preventative maintenance every 6 months or so. Basic checks are required. In the perfect world, every pump should be housed in a dry ventilated weatherproof enclosure. Exposure to the elements and or moisture results in Corrosion ageing your motor/pump external metal components prematurely. Most Wooden boxes located outside that house pool equipment are not totally weatherproof. This is 1 of the biggest problems a new pool pump faces in its life. On occasion it nearly impossible to dismantle a pump due to holding bolts fused and corroded very badly. Remember! … you buy Cheap, you get Cheap!!

This varies from brand to brand. Spares are priced very differently. This is very difficult to commit to a fixed price without dismantling the unit and inspecting internals.
Very difficult to estimate accurately, as there are to many unknowns that we face. We can give you an idea. Pump spares vary significantly in cost

Seized front bearing and heavily corroded motor shaft – a result of a mechanical seal leaking for an extended period – avoidable
